Flowers of the Spring

Winter in San Juan

San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico. Its mild tropic climate makes it a perfect destination during the long and cold American winter. The temperature varies between 80s and 90s and long beautiful Caribbean beaches are full with tourists during the day. Along the coast, the devastation from the hurricane Maria is still visible.

In the evenings, downtown San Juan with its charming colonial architecture attracts the crowd. Restaurants, art galleries, rum bars, and historic sites such as the Governor’s Mansion and Hotel Casablanca are favorites among locals and foreigners.

Atlanta Embellished for Super Bowl LIII

Super Bowl LIII is just behind the corner and everybody says this year MVP is the host city of Atlanta.

The marvelous Mercedes Benz Stadium was the stylish venue where the battle between the LA Rams and the NE Patriots took place.

In the neighboring Georgia World Congress Center, thousands of visitors were able to enjoy the Super Bowl exhibition and see the one and only Vince Lombardi Trophy. They walked around the uniforms of Atlanta Falcons, LA Rams and all other 32 NFL teams, learned about the legacy of the current NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL Hall of Fame.

Our Atlanta Falcons didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. However, its stars, including QB Matt Ryan, took the opportunity to meet with fans.

American football is not just a very dramatic sport. It is also about giving back to the community. Taste of the NFL charity evening, held in Cobb Galleria Center, brought together master chiefs and NFL legends from all 32 NFL cities with one purpose to donate funds to the food banks around USA. Among the legends were former Falcon Chris Draft and former Patriot Christian Fauria who showed me one of his two Champions rings.

The exhibits of the silent auction included personally signed shirt of Patrick Mahomes, personally signed helmets of Tom Brady and Julio Jones, and many other.

Well done, Atlanta! We are looking forward to 2020 Final Four!

Atlanta Isn’t Perfect

“Atlanta Isn’t Perfect”. I spotted this sign in downtown Atlanta and it is true. However, Atlanta has many beautiful faces and I decided to share with you some of them.

For me, the most fascinating building in the city is the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. I am never tired to take photos of it inside and outside. I love the downtown skyline and the view from some of its skyscrapers. Buckhead financial district always inspires me.

If you are nature lover, East Lake Golf Course and the Botanic Gardens are your place. The fabulous Fox Theater, Rialto Art Center, and Shakespeare Tavern are for theater lovers.

It goes without saying that the best gym in the town is Life Time Athletic. Infinity Arena is a wonderful concert venue. There are many great restaurants in Atlanta. One of them is Ted Turner’s Montana Grill. If you enjoy drinking wine, Chateau Elan is one good choice.

There are many interesting public buildings in Atlanta. The Governor’s Mansion and the Morehouse College very much represent the architecture tradition of the American South.

What are your favorite places in Atlanta? Feel free to shear them with me.

Roosevelt’s Little White House

Personally, I don’t care how many mistresses Franklin Delano Roosevelt might have had. For me, he is the greatest American president ever. He found the way out of the Great Depression and put America on the right side of history during World War Two, despite the reluctance of the “America firsters” of his time.

The story of Franklin Delano Roosevelt is strongly connected with the small town of Warm Springs in Georgia, which he visited regularly due to his health situation. His cottage, named Little White House, is now a museum where everything is left much as it was when he died on April 12, 1945.

Making History: Tiger Woods @ East Lake 2018

The biggest comeback in the sport history! That’s how sport commentators described Tiger Woods’ victory at Tour Championship in Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club on September 23, 2018. This was his first title in the PGA Tour since 2013. One of the most popular athletes of the 21st century and the biggest legend of golf suffered back injuries as well as personal problems that led to his 5-years winless streak.

The beautiful East Lake Golf Course was a beautiful setting for Tiger’s comeback that Wass followed by his faithful fans.
